Riverside Forest Products –Corporate Office Expansion
Project at a Glance
Client: Riverside Forest Products
Task: Add a 3,300 square foot second floor to their existing Corporate Office
Features: Custom wood-work showcases client's products
Challenge:
Riverside Forest Products is a company on the grow - and they needed their office space to grow along with their business.
So, Riverside turned to a company they trusted - Northern Trailer. In 2000, Northern Trailer had managed the relocation of ?Riverside's office building, so they were a natural choice in 2004 when it was time to build onto the facility. What they needed was a building solution which would double the floor space on the same site.
Another key element to this project was the building aesthetic. As a leading producer of softwood plywood and veneer, Riverside's Kelowna offices are located on the shore of Lake Okanagan in British Columbia, and it was crucial that their facility fit in with their environment.
Both the integration of the new space and the aesthetic of the facility were key elements of this project essentials that Northern Trailer creatively built into the project plan.
Solution:
Northern Trailer creates building solutions that are flexible for growth, and for Riverside Forest Products this meant adding an entire second floor atop their existing 3,300 square foot office.
Greg Maralia, Kelowna Division Manager for Riverside Forest Products, says the Northern Trailer project staff were well organized and delivered a quality product. "This was an important project for Riverside and with very tight timelines" he said.
"The goal was to add a second storey to the existing building to facilitate the recent growth of the company. The 3300 square feet of new modules were completed on schedule with virtually no interruption to our office operations."
Finally, recognizing that Riverside's corporate image is very important, Northern Trailer struck a unique partnership with their client. Combining Riverside's wood products with the construction of the second floor, the project used dimensional lumber and sheathing to construct wooden ranch walls and solid pine interior walls and door trim. This partnership resulted in a building solution that reflected Riverside's premium image.
The end result is a comfortable, spacious office that is pleasing to work in. "This facility does not look like a modular trailer – it looks like a permanent, two-story office building," explains Maralia. "Finished in earth tone colours with accents of blue, which are our logo colours, the end result is an attractive, well constructed building that fits perfectly with our environment."
