This project included extensive design work to accommodate living quarters for up to 1,000 workers and management personnel, development of a kitchen/dining area and recreational space. In addition, the layout incorporated a series of enclosed and heated arctic corridors for pedestrian traffic between the work site and accommodations. Northern Trailer recruited its catering division to contribute design and engineering ideas and expertise to the heart of the infrastructure – an expansive 30,000-square-foot custom kitchen and dining area with accompanying recreational space for workers to watch television, play pool and other games as well as use the full service fitness facility. Accommodations include 10 separate 42-person dormitories with individual rooms dedicated to trades workers as well as two, 24-person dormitories for management personnel, which house large bedrooms and private washrooms.
